Dependent Verification Program

Every new dependent you enroll in the company’s medical, dental, and/or vision plans must complete the Dependent Verification Program. This includes dependents added during New Hire Benefits Enrollment, a Qualifying Life Event, or Annual Open Enrollment. Employees who do not have enrolled dependents do not need to take any action.

You will receive instructions by email and mail explaining how to complete the verification process and which documents can be submitted as proof of dependent eligibility.

When to expect your verification notice:

  • New Hire Enrollment: After your benefit coverage becomes effective.
  • Qualifying Life Event: After coverage for your newly added dependent(s) becomes effective.
  • 2027 Open Enrollment: Beginning in early December 2026.

If you do not receive the email sent to your work email address, please check your junk or spam folder.

You will have 30 days from the date of notification to log in to the Alight website and submit the required documentation. Any dependent who is not verified within the required timeframe will be removed from coverage.

Steps to complete the dependent verification process online:

  • Go to https://worklife.alight.com/DTFOC or download the Alight Mobile app.
  • Click on Don’t have User ID link.
  • Enter your personal information to set up your new username and password.
  • Once logged in you will find the verification available under your To Dos.

Documentation Requirements for New Dependents

If you are enrolling your spouse and/or eligible dependent child(ren) for the first time, you will need to provide documentation to confirm their eligibility for coverage. After you enroll, you will receive a letter from the Alight Dependent Verification team to help guide you through the process.

 

Acceptable Forms of Documentation Include:

  • Marriage license for spouse
  • Birth certificate for children
  • Court-ordered guardianship papers or adoption papers
  • Documentation requirements vary based on your elections and dependent eligibility status.
